Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance (KTAXA), a leader in Health & Protection, recently launched ‘KTAXA IPD Pre Approval’ a differentiated service proposition offering customers a set lump sum package prior to an operation or endoscopy treatment.
The claims process and unknown expenses, at the time of hospitalization, is one of the biggest pain points for customers of health insurance and one of the most critical factors for families while choosing a health insurance policy. Our aim, by offering a set price for surgery and treatment, is to provide support and reassurance to our customers during their time of need.
This new service allows customers to plan their treatment in advance with a doctor or a specialist and then the hospital will pre-approve the procedure with the company. ‘KTAXA IPD Pre Approval’ provides patients with peace of mind as they know their procedures are within their insurance coverage and lets them know in advance if there is an excess payment. Healthcare providers can also gain clarity on the type of procedures covered by insurance to better advise patients before the surgeries, and insurers can assess the medical necessity and cost of the treatment to ensure it is within the terms and conditions of the policy.
On the day the patient is discharged, they do not need to wait on the fax claim process, but will still need to pay the excess payment, if this applies.
Healthcare customers who avail of the ‘IPD pre approval’ process will also be eligible for KTAXA’s care coordination service. Specially trained Care Coordinators will manage appointment scheduling with the hospital, follow-up and health education for patients while recuperating at home, and closely monitor the customer’s journey through to full recovery.
‘KTAXA IPD Pre approval’ will be at the discretion of the doctor as per medical appropriation and does not cover any emergency illnesses. Furthermore, in some cases, customers will need to wait for the fax claim process if the treatment does not go as planned due to the following reasons:
· Changes in treatment or surgery method
· Complications or symptoms that require more days in the hospital.
· Additional expenses that exceed the coverage limit as previously approved.
At present, IPD Pre approval is only available at participating hospitals, including Bangkok Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Chanthaburi and Phyathai 2 Hospital.
