Sunday, 4th September-- Krungthai-AXA Life Insurance sponsored Run2gether, the only disability guide-assisted mini marathon in Thailand, at the National Stadium Bangkok. The event aims to promote “Friendship Beyond Differences” and highlight the incredible goals we can achieve when we embrace and champion diversity.
The race commenced at 6.00 am and over 1,400 people took part, including 500 people, People with a Disability (PWD), 700 runners, and 200 volunteers. In spite of the rain, not one person cancelled, and everyone persevered to finish race. We were also very privileged and honored to have as guests, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the Bangkok Governor, who took part in the 10 km run, and Mrs. Sally O’ Hara, CEO Krungthai-AXA Life, who ran the 2 km distance as a guide runner.
Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. O’Hara said “It’s a real honour to be here today and sponsor this unique and inspiring event. Congratulations to all the competitors - in my book you are all winners for taking part and standing up for what you believe in. This is KTAXA’s 5th year sponsoring Run2gether and we remain extremely committed to ‘Inclusion & Diversity for all’ because despite progress, exclusion is still the reality for millions of people with disabilities in every aspect of their lives—from sports and health to education and leadership. Let’s continue working together, not just for this annual event, but every day, so together we can champion and embrace diversity and promote a happier, healthier and more inclusive society. I’d like to say a sincere thank you to our dedicated runners, KTAXA employees, volunteers, and spectators, for making this a remarkable and memorable occasion.”
There was a fantastic atmosphere at the finish line as the competitors were cheered on by all the supporters. KTAXA also provided full insurance coverage to all participants for the event and each guide and runner was presented with a medal.
Over the years, Run2gether has become an event that promotes ‘Inclusion & Diversity’, collaboration and solidarity and has a positive impact on our overall health and wellbeing. This is closely aligned with KTAXA’s core values of ‘care’ and ‘integrity’ and purpose ‘act for human progress by protecting what matters.’
