AVP - Head of Local Earning and Reinsurance

Job Description

- Manage the Statutory team and Reinsurance team to deliver work timely and accurate and work with Pricing team to agree on the assumption use in pricing.

- Lead and ensure monthly actuarial reporting inputs to the Dashboard have been submitted in accordance with pre-agreed timelines with appropriate comments. The reporting inputs include monthly reserves and earnings results.

- Lead and ensure all regulatory returns are submitted on time. These include monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and yearly reporting requirements on reserves, statistics and other data. Ensure compliance with regulations, corporate policy and external auditors in these submissions.

-Deliver and agree with the Regional Office / Local Risk the parameters for the Non-Economic Assumptions review (mortality, health, lapses, unit costs)

- Deliver the monthly reinsurance accounts to all reinsurers. Aim for no more than a 3-month lag.

- Reinsurance treaties are signed within one month of a product going live.

- Ensure that the Statutory Earning projections are completed according to the agreed timelines.

- Ensure that assumption used in the projections are done accurately and that the results can be explained

- Supervise, delegate, coordinate and review the work in the Statutory & Reinsurance. Provide suitable training where required

Qualification

- At least 7 years life insurance working experience preferably in actuarial valuations or financial reporting.

- Between 3 and 7 years post-qualification if the person is a Fellow.

- B.Sc or M.Sc in Actuarial studies / Statistics / Mathematics / Sciences

- Fellow of an Actuarial Society e.g. Society of Actuaries, Institute of Actuaries of Australia, Institute & Faculty of Actuaries is desirable but not a requirement

- A moderate level of knowledge on financial reporting standards is a requirement

- A good knowledge of Excel and Prophet (or similar packages) is required.

- A good command of English, since it is the office language.
