January 14, 2023 -- National Forest Conservation Day, celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. Each year, citizens across the country are encouraged to undertake local and national efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree-planting campaigns.
Three years ago, on this day, Krungthai-AXA Life officially launched its Tree Planting Campaign at The Golden Jubilee Museum of Agriculture Office, Bangkok and made a commitment to plant 100,000 trees by the end of 2022. Today, that target has not only been achieved but surpassed and 110, 000 trees have been planted across all regions of the country. The campaign aimed to counter the effects of deforestation and climate change in Thailand and raise awareness about protecting our environment.
Speaking about the campaign, CEO, Sally O’Hara said “Private companies such as Krungthai-AXA Life have a critical responsibility to use their resources and influence to ensure we’re doing everything possible to restore, regenerate and protect global forests. KTAXA’s tree planting campaign differs from others in that the work doesn’t just stop with simply planting the tree, we also committed to reducing paper and used the funds saved on paper to plant trees, this included switching to e-policies and e-application. This approach gave us the opportunity to bring our stakeholders along on the journey so we can build critical mass, which is essential in addressing the extremely complex challenges we’re facing as a planet.”
O’ Hara concluded “To mark the end of the campaign, I would like to personally express my thanks to all participants, employees and partners for their hard work and supporting this important initiative and helping us to surpass our final target – Know We Can!”
Krungthai-AXA Life will continue to commit to climate change and protecting the environment through future initiatives. This year the company will plant mangrove trees as they provide a natural infrastructure and protection to nearby populated areas by preventing erosion and absorbing storm surge impacts during extreme weather events.
