Today, many people talk about personality tests. Some of you may have taken one of these personality tests or at least seen some of them on social media. However, if you haven't taken one yourself or are still wondering what type of personality you are, this article will tell you more about it. What type of personality are you? Let’s see.

What is the MBTI personality test?

MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is a test designed to help identify character traits and identity strengths and weaknesses as well as mental processes such as information perception and thinking and decision-making processes of each personality type. Personalities can be divided into four groups and sub divided into 16 types (portrayed by four letters), comprising ISTJ, ISTP, ISFJ, ISFP, INFJ, INFP, INTJ, INTP, ESTP, ESTJ, ESFP, ESFJ, ENFP, ENFJ, ENTP, and ENTJ.

Meaning of each letter

·       Extraversion (E) – Introversion (I) indicates the direction in which we expend energy

o   Extroversion (E) likes to expend energy on “external things” and feels energized when doing so. External things means objects, activities or people around us. These people feel good when talking with others, going out to socialize and meet people, doing activities, and paying attention to things around them.

o   Introversion (I) likes to expend energy on “internal things” and feels empowered thereby. These people like to spend time with themselves. They like to be quiet, do not like to socialize with others, and feel more at ease when they are alone.

·       Sensing (S) – Intuition (N) tells how to get information

o   Sensing (S) means being good at receiving information that is "factual and tangible" which is often directly caused by the five senses such as perception of information from facts and figures. These people live in the present reality.

o   Intuition (N) means being good at receiving information from a “big picture” point of view. They often look at things beyond the present, into the future and see the relationship between things and their hidden meanings or patterns. These people have initiative and are imaginative and inspired.

·       Thinking (T) – Feeling (F) indicates a decision-making process and how to draw conclusions from the information obtained.

o   Thinking (T) means making decisions with "cause and effect" focusing on facts. These people are well organized, like to do things step by step, and use logic rather than feeling. For example, if they have to evaluate employees, they will do so based on performance only, not feelings.

o   Feeling (F) means deciding by looking at the "value" of things that are important or valuable in society. These people use feelings to make decisions. They like to work with people and are empathetic towards others. For example, when evaluating employees, they may be empathetic to those being evaluated such as giving bonuses for employees who have family problems and so on.

·       Judging (J) – Perceiving (P) describes the process of coping with the outside world.

o   Judging (J) means planning, precision and orderliness in managing life.

o   Perceiving (P) means dealing with the outside world with “flexibility”. These personalities like openness and spontaneous responses and tend to be open for new things.
